We are Warriors
My lineage contains the history of many wars and deep losses..
My ancestors were warriors, fact! The bigness of this weighs on me heavily. They possessed a relentless power which they learnt to cultivate over generations.
Their power knew no boundaries and its a power barely seen today.
Fast forward 200 years or so and cue the generations to come....
Where the need for that power is no longer required but lives on inside of us regardless. Passed down through generations with each generation becoming more confused by it.
Not knowing how to harness this power in healthy ways it at times showed itself as extreme rage or violent anger, causing destruction and pain.
Afraid of the intensity of energy and emotions we could not understand, we became masters in the art of numbing.
It became safer to suppress it ALL and everything else with it.
Fearing our own power and denying ourselves the sacred knowledge passed down through our ancestory.
Along the way forgetting our innate nature and who we came here to be.
We are so much more than this!
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us."
- Marianne Williamson
E kore au e ngaro, he kākano ahau i ruia mai i Rangiātea.
I can never be lost, I am a seed sown in the heavens, born of greatness.
A whakataukī that speaks to the heart of belonging, to remind us that we descend from greatness and that we have a reason for being.
